On May 07 2019 the Chamber of Artisans and Shopkeepers hosted at their premises an information day social Cy project team. During the event, opening remarks were made by Hürrem Tulga on behalf of Chamber of Shopkeepers and Artisans, Ali Güralp on behalf of Nicosia Turkish Municipality and Michael Docherty, Director of the EU Programme Support Office (EUPSO). The event was attended by around 50 people mostly young graduates who wanted to learn more about the potential of social entrepreneurship.
During his speech, Michale Docherty emphasized the importance of social entrepreneurship and how it can provide employment opportunities for youth and women in Cyprus. Alongside the presentations, demonstration on innovative technologies that could trigger social businesses such as transforming plastic waste into 3D printed objects was offered and existing social initiatives transforming cooking oil into fuel was presented. Booklets providing information on social entrepreneurship prepared within the framework of the project as well as promotional materials were handed out to guests.
