Supporting Employability through Social Entrepreneurship?

The recent economic crisis, the increased unemployment rates and the limited opportunities in traditional jobs, have worked as a driving force for the creation of new alternative approaches to employment that can lead to creative, sustainable jobs. Social Entrepreneurship is the engine for social innovation and can play a crucial role in generating new job opportunities for the unemployed.

What is the Go Social project?

TheGo Social: Supporting employability through social entrepreneurship’ project was launched in August 2018 and will be completed by July 2021. Funded by the European Union under the “Innovation and Change in Education VII” Grant Scheme, the project aims at enhancing the participation of individuals in society by providing new skills and learning opportunities in social entrepreneurship, thus supporting employability in Cyprus.

The project encourages the development of social enterprises in Cyprus by identifying and supporting new innovative ideas and initiatives that can meet social, economic and environmental needs, while developing inclusive growth and sustainable economy. The project’s target groups, mainly women and youth, engage in awareness raising, capacity building, work-based learning, study-visits and networking activities to improve their entrepreneurial skills and enhance labour-market access. All events and activities are promoted through traditional and social media tools and those who are interested are strongly encouraged to seize the opportunity to “go social”!

This project is financed by the European Union and implemented by the Famagusta Walled City Association (MASDER), AKTI Project and Research Centre (AKTI), and, the Famagusta Women Centre Association (MAKAMER).
